So there I was, at half-past noon, striding across campus carrying a stack of paper nearly six inches high. All those packets of scholarly work, all ready to wing their ways around the country to the people elsewhere who will comment on what I've done so far. And I felt good, better than I would have thought turning in a big pack of paper on this occasion would make me feel. I celebrated by teaching another course's first session. Now the real fun can begin.
